New Car Negotiation, Price Quotes, and Finance Advice

I first must say something that many do not want to hear. The job of a Car Salesman is to sell their car at the highest price possible and the customer is trying to buy the car at the lowest price possible. This is automatically set up to cause conflict, but you must realize a car salesman is hired and trained to make the dealership money. This makes some angry, but think about your own job. You are hired to make your boss or your company more money. If you are in customer service, your job is to make customers happy so they spend more and come back more often. If you work on an assembly line, your job is to perform your job as fast as possible to make more units at a lower cost per unit so your company can make more money. Any job you think of is in place to make the company money unless you work for a not for profit organization.

When you understand that a car salesman is there to do a job, it will be a lot easier to haggle and get a better price. Let me say this though. If your salesman lies or cheats you in any way, this is a whole different issue, I have no sympathy for a lying salesman--throw them to the wolves! I say haggling or dickering is good clean fun for both parties. Many customers enjoy this part of the sales process and many hate it, but I will show you easy steps to get a better deal on your next new or used car, truck, or SUV.

Now, with all that said, lets assume you know what car you are going to buy. You have done your preliminary research and have narrowed it down to at least a certain class of cars. You may be to the point you are comparing a Pontiac G6, a Nissan Altima, and a Toyota Camry. Try to narrow down to the point you are comparing 3 cars or 3 trucks etc. Don't get to the point you are comparing a Nissan Maxima and a Toyota Corolla unless you want to see which is going to be in your budget. You don't know how daunting it is to a salesman when you are comparing my top of the line car to a budget car at another car lot. And you are telling me my car is too high, but you don't want to look at my budget car. You can see what I mean, compare apples to apples.

    Looking for a new car?

To negotiate to your advantage you must break your car deal into components. You are saying, Components? Yes, your car purchase has several affecting components. You may have a Trade In - 1 component, Price on the auto of your choice - 2ND component, and the Interest Rate at which you will finance - 3rd component. You also have some sub-components like how long you will finance your car. Will you finance for 60 months, 72 months, etc, but we will leave that for another discussion. Lets focus on Purchase Price, Trade In, and Interest Rate. These are the 3 main things that are negotiable on a new car purchase and used car purchase.

My first car negotiation tip is an easy one and the main component when buying a car. The price of the car your are buying is negotiable. You will have a salesman tell you the vehicle is already discounted from the factory with rebates. You and I both know the car can still be discounted from the dealership unless you are buying a Saturn with one price shopping. I will say GM has gone to value pricing and it has narrowed the margin of discount, but it still can be discounted. The best way to find out what you can buy the car for is at Yahoo! Autos This is a FREE service so take advantage of it. Just click the link and pick the make and model you are shopping. You will be taken to a second page with 3 simple steps. Fill in the form with which trim level, color, and any comments for other options. Fill in the 2ND step with your name, address, phone, and email. The last 2 questions are payment method to see if you will be using rebates, and buying how soon--put within 48 hours or your quote will be set aside. The 3rd step is important, make sure you check the box for (select all dealers). This will ensure you get the lowest price possible. Then click the button that says (Get Free Dealer Quotes). Sit back and check your email for the easiest way to get quotes quick. If you do nothing else, follow this step as it can save you thousands. You can also go back and select another make and model you are shopping to comparison price shop.

The second negotiation tip has to do with interest rate when financing your auto. Many do not realize that one of the most profitable aspects for the dealership is financing a car. Here is how it works. The dealership does not finance the car, they actually finance with outside banks and just do all the paperwork necessary for the bank. The dealership sends the signed paperwork to the bank and the bank cuts the dealership a check. This is why all dealership sales are cash sales, but cash sales do not make any money for these car-lots. The dealership pulls your credit and sends it to the appropriate bank. The bank sends an answer back that says your buy rate is 5.75% or whatever it is according to your credit. Now, pay attention, this is when the dealership says we can do the loan for you at 7.75%. These 2 percentage points on a 20,000, 30,000, or even 40 or 50,000 auto can add up. The bank will then finance your car, send the dealership their money for profit on the car and interest profit over what they charge. So the question is how do you know what interest rate you deserve. I would say check with your bank, but dealerships get lower rates than a customer from some banks so why not apply for a loan directly with a Direct-To-Consumer Lender, Roadloans. Dealerships are not allowed to use Roadloans as they only deal directly with the consumer. And, when approved you will get a blank check overnight in the mail with instructions to buy a car. Now you are a CASH Buyer!

The last negotiation tip is when it comes to trading a vehicle. This one is a little more difficult, but there are a few tips to ensure you get the most for your trade. The biggest problem when it comes to the trade in is negative equity. I have a few tips at Negative Equity; Trading a Car When You Are Upside Down! Another way to avoid being upside down is to check out tips to sell your car instead of trade. kbb.com is a good place to see what your car is worth. When you put your vehicle in, make sure you don't put excellent condition. The dealership must figure in expenses with your trade such as running it through service to check it out, detailing, getting dents and dings out, etc. Kelly Blue Book figures are a little high anyway unless you are in California or some of the other big cities.

When you have received your low quote, obtained financing, and found what your vehicle is worth, it is time to go to the dealership. It should be pretty easy at this point. You already have the price you will pay and financing, so it comes down to trade in at this point if you even have a trade. This should be the easiest car you have ever purchased.

Electric Hybrid Aptera #1 Car Of The Future

The #1 Car of the Future
    By Adrienne Markovic

Gas prices are up and rising. Human overindulgence and waste are escalating as the population continues to grow. Recently the clever people at Aptera have come up with a solution to at least one out of two of these issues with their futuristic ride. Just looking at the Aptera one would think that it is some far-out concept car millennia away from the production line and more apt to be in a live action movie of the Jetson's. The Aptera is taking the auto industry's talk about a more efficient car and putting into action.

The company's mission statement is "to make the most fuel-efficient vehicle the world has ever seen, and to make it stylish, incredible safe, and fun to drive". (Aptera.com 2008) Aptera began their mission five years ago and, in record speed, have two models of car ready for the production line this year. The Typ-1 is currently taking pre-orders now. Aptera currently comes in two versions, the hybrid and the all-electric. The electric only will cost $26,900 and the hybrid will cost $29,900. The Aptera will only be available in the state of California initially. This is because the only Aptera service centers are only in California currently.

The Aptera is a three-wheeled vehicle that looks like a bubble. This body was engineered to eliminate as much drag as possible. The most revolutionary aspect of the car is the performance. This is no mere glorified golf cart. This car can go up to 90 mph and can go from 0-60 in ten seconds. The battery can be charged in 2-4 hours or overnight at the approximate cost of $1 to $2. Perhaps the best thing about this car is that it gets 300 miles per gallon. The efficiency is the car 's major selling points, but the perks do not end there.

It is not just a car for those in the population under 5'. This car can comfortably fit someone up to 6'1". What's even better is that because this car is has three wheels, it is allowed to go in the HOV lanes as a single occupancy vehicle, just like motorcycles. However, you do not need a special license to drive as you would with a motorcycle because it is an enclosed vehicle. It is also equipped with all the modern conveniences such as a CD/MP3 player and a touch screen navigation system. It has a RFID keyless ignition just like the latest and greatest luxury cars on the market today too.

Aptera is harnessing the future and setting the bar very high for automakers everywhere. The Aptera is not only efficient but has all the bells and whistles and creature comforts of their gasoline counterparts. Aptera means wingless flight in Greek. The Aptera is so far advanced it looks like flying is the only thing Aptera cannot do... yet.

Chevrolet Volt: GM's New Breed Of Electric Cars

Chevrolet Volt: GM's New Breed of Electric Cars
    By Correy Putton

In Detroit: The Chevrolet Volt concept sedan which is powered by the E-flex System (GM’s next-generation electric propulsion system) is offering one remarkable design that could eliminate trips to the gas station.

The Chevrolet Volt is a battery-powered four passenger electric vehicle equipped with top-of-the-line Chevy parts and makes use of gas engine to create additional electricity to extend its range. The Volt concept was derived from GM’s previous experience in modern electric vehicle market particularly in the year 1996 when it launched the EV1.

According to GM Vice president Chairman Robert A. Lutz, "The EV1 was the benchmark in battery technology and was a tremendous achievement. The Chevrolet Volt is a new type of electric vehicle. It addresses the range problem and has room for passengers and their stuff. You can climb a hill or turn on the air conditioning and not worry about it."

But despite the encouraging words from GM Chairman Lutz, a great number of people are frowning at the idea basically because electric vehicles have limitations such as limited range, limited room for passengers or luggage, inability to climb hill or run the air condition without draining the battery plus there are no device that can help you in case the battery charge run low. ---GM has solved all the aforementioned problems with their Volt.

The Chevy Volt can be charged by simply plugging it into a 110-volt outlet for six hours. When the lithium-ion battery is completely charge, the Volt is capable of covering 60 city kilometers of pure electric vehicle range. In the event that the battery is drain, a 1.0 liter, three-cylinder turbocharged engine spins at constant speed (measured in rpm) producing electricity and at the same time replenishes the battery.

Chairman Lutz further explains, "If you lived within 50 km from work (100 km round trip) and charged your vehicle every night when you came home or during the day at work, you would get fuel consumption of 1.6 liters per 100 km. More than half of all Americans live within around 30 km of where they work (60 km round trip). In that case, you might never burn a drop of gas during the life of the car."

The Chevy Volt is also capable of running 4.7 1/100 km even when it is undercharged. It makes use of its engine to convert gasoline into electricity and extending its range of up to 1030 km, which is doubled the capacity of any conventional vehicle. It is also designed to run on E85 which is a fuel blend of 85% ethanol and 15% gasoline.

The Volt is just one variant of the E-flex System and makes use of a large battery and a small, 1.0 liter turbocharged gasoline engine that produces enough electricity to cover 1030 km. GM will introduce the other variants of the E-flex at future auto shows.

Corey Putton is a 28-year old bachelor from Pittsburgh, PA who has been around cars for the better part of his life. He now works online and writes all about his passion: Chevy parts. He is also a certified mechanic.

Gap Insurance; When Car Insurance Is Not Enough

First let me give an explanation of how works. Gap Insurance basically works how it sounds, it covers any gaps left over by your regular car insurance.

Lets say you buy a 40,000 SUV that depreciates $15000 when you drive it off the car lot. This actually happens, but dont forget about the vehicle you traded in that you were upside down on and carried money over to your new purchase. Now, you carry over $5000 and you now owe $45000 plus taxes, interest, etc. Your vehicle is worth $25000-$30000.

Now, lets take this example and assume your vehicle is stolen or you are in an accident and your SUV is totaled. You owe close to $50000 after taxes and fees and some interest charges. Your insurance wants to settle with you and pay what the vehicle is actually worth. They say they are going to pay more than it is worth and settle with you for $38000-$40000. But wait, You owe more than that amount on your vehicle.

This is why dealerships have made untold fortunes selling Gap Insurance Policies at the time of purchase. Many customers buy their car and tell the salesman they must have Gap Insurance added. Many will not buy a car without Gap Insurance. If you have ever had a total loss with your vehicle and had to use insurance, you would have piece of mind with Gap Insurance. You would actually be able to go and buy another car immediately because you know you will have at least a zero balance on your loan.

Now, lets talk about the cost of Gap Insurance. The dealership I work at charges $799 and many other dealerships charge more than this amount. You must buy Gap Insurance at time of purchase.Source URL: http://ashesgarrett.blogspot.com/2008/02/

Learning About GMAC Auto Loans

    Learning About GMAC Auto Loans
    By Jeffrey Meier

The process of purchasing a car has become more and more taxing over the years because the economy as a whole has become so expensive. It is almost an impossible prospect to purchase a car with cash, so an auto loan is the primary option for most. If financing a car is your only option of purchase, then why not make your transaction as quick and easy as possible? GMAC tries hard to make your transition to car ownership as simple as possible with GMAC Auto Loans. Want to know more? Read on!

    Who is GMAC?

GMAC Financial Services is "a global, diversified financial services company." As a subsidiary of General Motors Corporation, GMAC originally functioned as a financial assistance program for auto dealers who wanted a larger selection of automobiles on their lots but did not have the cash to pay for more than just a few. Over time, GMAC's financing options expanded beyond assisting the dealers and moved into customer financing. And today we have a new financing system that assists prospective auto owners in driving a car now that they can pay for conveniently in their own time.

As the years evolve, so does GMAC, and now they provide the widest variety of auto financing options available to the public. While GMAC offers a number of packages for all areas of consumerism, including businesses and brokers, in this article we will focus on personal loans for the everyday consumer.

    Personal GMAC Auto Loans

The two types of personal loans we will focus on in this article are GMAC Auto Loans for Vehicle Financing and GMAC Auto Loans for Vehicle Leasing.
Vehicle financing is one of the original ways that GMAC began the "rent to own" process of purchasing a vehicle. Under the umbrella of the vehicle financing process is traditional retail financing and Smart Buy. Traditional retail financing is what most people expect when going to purchase a car. This style of financing is defined as "an installment sale transaction between you and your dealer whereby you agree to pay the amount financed, plus an agreed upon finance charge, over a period of time."

GMAC gives its prospective buyers guidelines to determine if traditional retail financing is the right choice for them. They explain that if you plan to drive your car for more than a few years and you consistently drive well over 15,000 miles a year, or even if you plan to alter the vehicle (change the paint color, add new wheels, change the interior), and most importantly, if the car you're financing is the one you intend to own, then traditional retail financing is probably the right choice for you. Most people in this day and age go directly to GMAC to finance their car; however, you are able to go through your bank or credit union as well.

Smart Buy is the second type of vehicle leasing available through GMAC Auto Loans. Smart Buy is also a program that allows you to eventually own your vehicle, however monthly payments are typically lower than those of traditional retail financing. How is this possible? Because GMAC takes a fraction of each monthly payment and moves them all to the end of the contract, combining them into one lump sum that will be paid in something called a "balloon payment." The benefit of the Smart Buy financing option is that if you don't have or don't want to pay the balloon payment at the end of your contract, you can simply return the vehicle and pay a smaller disposal fee, which includes mileage and excess wear charges. Also, you have the option of selling the vehicle yourself at your own price allowing you to possibly profit if you sell it for enough to cover your outstanding balance. However, you are only allowed a limit of 15,000 miles per year with Smart Buy, so if you're not sure you can manage this; Smart Buy may not be right financing option for you.

While vehicle financing is good for some, leasing may be the best option for others. Auto leasing is defined under GMAC Auto Loans as "an agreement between the owner of the property (lessor) and the user of the property (lessee) for the use, (rental), of property, (leased vehicle), subject to the stated terms and conditions in the lease agreement which detail both the length of time and the agreed upon payment." This means that you are basically participating in a long-term car rental process.

The major difference between vehicle financing and vehicle leasing is that you won't have the option of owning your car. Typically vehicle leasing monthly payments are cheaper than those of vehicle financing because you are committing to give your car back at the end of your leasing term - which provides the option to drive a very nice car for the same monthly payment as an "okay" car that you would be financing to own. For those who are not interested in driving the same car for more than 2 years and don't plan to make any alterations, then leasing is probably the best option for them - but again, you must do your research before making such a monetary commitment.

Through GMAC Auto Loans you have available three different leasing options: SmartLease, SmartLease Plus and Low Mileage Lease. SmartLease is the standard leasing option from GMAC where you have monthly payments to cover the car's value, plus a rent charge, taxes and fees. SmartLease Plus expands the lease to help you avoid monthly payments (contact GMAC for more information). And the Low Mileage Lease benefits those who drive under 12,000 miles per year with lower lease payments. However, before choosing this option you must make sure that you won't go over your 12,000 miles to avoid being charged for excess mileage.

On the GMAC website you will find a wonderful FAQ section that offers plenty of advice on the best financing or leasing options for you when considering GMAC Auto Loans. Also, you should speak directly with a dealership representative to get all of the facts about the perfect car and perfect loan before making any commitments. If you can do all of the appropriate research necessary on GMAC Auto Loans, then you'll be moving in the right direction and will be only months, weeks, or even days away from the car of your dreams.

Touch Guys Love Chevy Trucks

    Tough Guys Love Chevy Trucks
    By Bernabe Almirol

Chevy brandished its trucks under the marketing tag 'A Legacy Built on Dependability'. For the 2008 model year, three distinctly outstanding models were introduced in the market. Silverado, Avalanche and Colorado are simply the best in their own class.

Tough guys want their trucks to be durable enough to stand the country dirt roads. Silverado's rock-solid body is a favorite choice. Owners bragged that this truck model can outlive them and would even fit as their son's inheritance. Power and driving comfort adds up to the excellent features of this Chevy truck. Silverado's extremely powerful 6.6L V8 Turbo diesel engine matched with a six-speed automatic transmission can hurdle long dirt road and highway trips with ease. Its versatile passenger cab with a rear door capable of opening at 170-degrees takes care of easy cargo handling.

For guys who love sporty vehicles but still prefers the power and carrying capacity of a truck, the Avalanche is their preferred model. It is endowed with an innovative midgate system that allows the extension of the pick-up bed in the back seat area. When the midgate is folded down, it converts the pick-up's rear bed as a comfortable sleeping quarter. This is why the Avalanche is an outdoor-lover's favorite. Two sleeping bags nicely fit in this 'convertible' truck, so mountaineers do not need to pitch a base camp tent when the Avalanche joins the trek.

Economy conscious fellows would love a truck who can offer the same hardworking performance. The Colorado is Chevy's mid-sized truck powered by a smaller 3.5L I5 engine. As a model co-developed with the Japanese manufacturer Isuzu, this pick-up truck has all the much sought after features such as durability, flexibility, comfort and power all rolled into one.

Mindful that trucks usually haul cargo in long trips, entertainment and information connectivity are two important considerations. All 2008 model Chevy trucks are equipped with CD and MP3 capable entertainment package and state-of-the-art Radio Data System compatible radio. The Avalanche went beyond this by integrating a Navigation Radio.

General Motor's patented Active Fuel Management technology is also common to all new models of Chevy trucks. This revolutionary technology installed the engine's capability to shift between eight cylinder full power and fuel-saving four cylinder mode. This process is fully automated and electronically controlled.

Some models are adapted to E85 ethanol-blended fuel as an expression of Chevy's commitment to alternative energy utilization and development. Ethanol burns more efficiently that fossil-fuel based gasoline and thus, minimizing carbon gas emission in the atmosphere. True to its commitment to the American Revolution, Chevy is contributing in the global initiative to reverse the trend of climate change.

You have all the reasons to be a proud owner of a Chevy truck. Dress up your key with a Chevy Truck Keychain. Remember, that little rod gives you access to all the wonderful goodness stored in your Chevy. Your key is the lucky charm capable of activating all the powers of the greatest truck in the planet.

Bernabe Almirol is a writer for Wholesale keychains. Check out the intricate designs of these Chevy Truck Keychains, they are crafted in stainless steel, metal, chrome, and leather and comes with a lifetime guarantee against flaws in the material.

Top Three Auto Detailing Techniques That Can Save You Money

Top Three Auto Detailing Techniques That Can Actually Save You Money
    By Alex Baumm

Auto detailing is fast becoming a budding and very promising industry. For quite some time now, car owners are allocating significant amount of budget to grooming and enhancing the exterior of their vehicles through thorough cleansing.

Of course, it matters if cleanliness of the car is observed inside and out. But if you want to make your car look brand new in an instant, at least exteriorly, it would be a big plus if you would subject your vehicle into auto detailing.

Basically, there are three highly popular auto detailing techniques. These three are commonly practiced and offered at almost all car detailing establishments in the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia and elsewhere in the world.

As a car owner, it would be a great help if you would be familiar with all of the three so that in case you might be needing auto detailing services, you would already be exposed.

The first auto detailing technique is what is called as clay cleaning. For beginners, clay is a simple and effective mixture of several abrasives and clay base. Clay is normally mixed with a clay lubricant for effective removal of paint contamination. Common dirt and car exterior contaminants being removed by clay bars include tree sap, bugs, road grime, paint over spray, rust and tar.

Clay bars are like detergent soaps for your laundry. Hence, there are many types of clay bars. Moreover, clay bars differ mainly on color and composition or density of chemicals or active ingredients. There are clay bars for mild cleansing, while others are too harsh and are appropriate for cleaning heavily stained and dirty car exteriors. Professional car detailers should know the appropriate and perfect clay technique for your car.

Another auto detailing technique is polishing. This technique is aimed at removing contamination, scratches, swirls and a host of many other paint imperfections. Car polishes penetrate deeper into the clearcoat, move that is far better and more intense than clay cleaning.

Polishing is basically intended originally for removing fine scratches and even light oxidation in the car's exterior surface. There are some polishing products that when applied can be a prerequisite or a preparation for another popular car detailing technique.

The last technique is car waxing. Waxing is the auto detailing technique that is wrapping up all the two other techniques. In other words, waxing is like finishing the entire car detailing process. Common forms of car waxes include pastes, liquids and creams. Basically, car waxing products contain carnuba, a substance characterized for having a significant amount of essential and helpful fatty acids.

The fatty acids when applied to the car exterior serve as a solid layer protection that coats the surface to keep it from contamination and harsh effects from the outside world. Car waxing is also responsible for giving the car the very shiny and neat finish.

When looking at shops and establishments for auto detailing, you should initially consider auto detailing establishments that offer all three basic techniques in a single bundled package. On the other hand, if you decide to try to do car detailing for your car instead, be careful when choosing the specific products you would be using.

Remember that any miscalculations or simple errors in using clays, polishes and waxes, the external surface and overall appeal of your car would be at great risk.

Why Your Next Pickup Should Be A GM

Why your next pickup should be a GM
    by P. Filler

Oddly enough, out of all of the research done into hybrid technology GM has been forward thinking enough to make theirs are not only affordable, but ingenious as well. They now offer both the Sierra and the Silverado pickups as hybrids country wide. Using a technology not formerly seen in hybrids, GM attempted to not only lower emissions in their pickups, but to make them handier as well.

    Affordable Technology
GM wanted to make a hybrid truck that was too well priced to turn down, the major complaint of the hybrid models is high price tag which counteracts the gas mileage benefits. In response to this GM produced their pick up hybrids to cost only $1500.00-$2500.00 more than its gas guzzling brothers, saved with tax cuts at the pump within the first few years of ownership. Especially if you consider that the hybrids produce a 10% improvement in fuel economy, all without sacrificing any power.

Both the Sierra and Silverado offer the same 245 horsepower V8 engine, and can tow up to 7,700 pounds. If you consider that pickup truck drivers are not sacrificing any power and when sitting stopped in traffic it emits very limited pollution for their size.

    Hybrid System
GM employs what they call a "flywheel alternator starter hybrid system" which uses a compact electric motor incorporated between the engine and the transmission. This electric engine runs the truck when it is slowing or idling at a standstill. They calibrate the flywheel alternator system to turn off the engine more frequently than even those systems used in most smaller hybrid models. Eliminating much of the pollution caused by slow moving traffic in high volume.

Now Your Work Truck Can Double As A Generator
Both the Sierra and the Silverado boost four 120-volt, 20 amp three-prong outlets which can be used to provide power for electrical tools and electronics. This eliminates any need for a gassy generator spewing fumes into the air at a work site. The truck must be running, but utilizing it's electric engine allows it to run virtually emission free. GM reports that their hybrid trucks can continue to pump out power for up to 32 hours non-stop before needing to refuel. Aimed specifically at contractors, whose need to access abundant sources of energy and drive long miles to job sites fuel this intelligent new take on a work truck.

    Testers Report
The power source for tools was not quite as juicy as GM would have you think, however the idea is a brilliant one. No doubt in a few generations they will have nailed down this imperfection in an already forward thinking vehicle.

Although the gas mileage is a tad better overall, it borders on insignificant. Which again is certain to be addressed and updated in generations to come. Reviewers say that the feel of the engine cutting out as you hit ten miles an hour is a bit disconcerting, and takes some getting used to, but its pollution saving benefits far outweigh that small detail. Every accessory on the truck is electrical, so the gas engine only runs when it is needed to for its sole purpose, to accelerate the vehicle.

    Overall Appeal
The brilliance behind the ideas developed for these pickup truck models is really what drives them at this point. Fine tuning is necessary of any piece of equipment and GM has been making pick up trucks for a long time. They will continue to address the issues and refine the existing good points, driving the hybrid market to continue to bring us new and innovative ideas.

Car Salesman Joke - A Little Tail

February 2008 GM Rebates And Special Interest Rates

This is a guide to check your February 2008 GM Rebates and special interest rates for Pontiac, Buick, and GMC. I say this a guide because when you go to your local dealer they will enter the VIN of the vehicle you choose to get exact rebates. Each vehicle has to be entered because there may be extra rebates on some. Also General Motors has different regions in the country that may offer different rebates, so check with your local dealer to get exact information. This is just a guide.

The special interest rate is if you give up the rebate to get a lower interest rate. The rates are in order for 36 months/48 months/60 months/72 months. The conquest rebate is for owning a non-GM vehicle and may be limited to certain regions of the country so check with your local dealer for specific details.

    Pontiac, Buick, GMC, Rebates:
    Buick Enclave $0
    Buick Lacross $1500

    SIERRA 2500/3500DIE $1750 Bonus Cash+2000 Invoice Credit
    GMC Yukon $0
    GMC Yukon XL $0

The GMC Sierra $2000 Invoice credit is if the vehicle was invoiced prior to 9-1-07 and this extra money ends on 2-13-07 so you need to hurry to get this extra rebate. The Sierra listed are 1500 (half tons) unless denoted by 2500/3500 which are 3/4 tons and 1 tons. There are also some February Dealer Bonus Cash Certificates in some regions that dealers can apply to 07/08 Sierra's. They can apply a $250 certificate up to 4 certificates equal to an extra $1000. You can see why when you go to the dealership and the salesman says we have to enter the VIN to see what rabate to apply, they are not lying. GM has some of the most complex rebate structures in the industry, but it is used to keep the inventory newer. The older units are given a higher rebate to move them out and get new units on the ground. These rebates are scheduled to go thru 3-3-08 but may change at any time. I will say again, this is just a guide and check with your local dealer for exact rebates for your region.

This is a break down of some of the rebates and rates for Pontiac, Buick, and GMC. Check out what you can actually buy the vehicle for from the dealer not including rebates. You can get a price before ever visiting the dealer by entering your vehicle of choice at Yahoo Auto's!

An Introduction To Chevy Corvette

    An Introduction to Corvette
    By William Berg

The glorious Corvette history started in 1953, when Chevrolet first came out with the Corvettes. It has endured the tests and ravages of time, and is now considered to be at par with some of the greatest cars in the world. The first all American sports car built by an American company, today Corvettes are manufactured almost exclusively by General Motors in their plant in Kentucky.

The early Corvette produced in 1953, was a reflection of the styling flair of Harley Earl, who convinced GM that two-seater sports cars were the ultimate American dream. The name Corvette comes from a small maneuverable fighting frigate. The early Corvettes were almost hand built using fiberglass instead of steel for the lightweight effect. At that time, Chevrolet was known for producing excellent performing cars in a no nonsense package. So, though the cars were good value, sales continued to decline.

The Corvette history would have ended with this small chapter except for the arrival of Zora Arkus-Duntov in the engineering department of GM. Duntov single handedly transformed the Corvette from a two-seat car to a genuine sports car by taking a 265 version of the engine and applying the three-speed manual transmission to it.

Corvette history covers 6 generations of the famous Corvette cars beginning from C1 through to C6. The C1s are usually referred to as solid-axle, and were in production till 1962. By 1963, turbulent times lay ahead for the Corvette, with various other cars trying to outshine each other. The Corvette rose to the competition with the C2 that started rolling out in 1963. This year saw the dramatic popularity of the Corvette Sting Ray coupe with its split rear end window, and non-functional ford-like vents. The split window was taken off the very next year due to safety concerns, making this model of the car one of the most sought after by vintage collectors. Greater engine power, four-wheel disc brakes, and side exhaust pipes appeared in the later versions and were available till 1969.

The famous L88 version of the Stingray was another landmark in Corvette history. A true blood racing car, the L88 was in production for only three years, and was quickly gobbled up by a market that was thirsting for the trendy sports beast. "Not for the Faint of Heart", was the song that Chevrolet came up with to advertise their new L88. The L88 was never actually intended for public use. The high performing car had many capabilities that were relatively unknown to most users of the time.

The C3 was patterned after Chevrolet's Mako Shark design. This series started rolling out in 1968 and lasted till 1982. Small changes in styling rendered the Corvette even more stylish and lightweight. 1973 saw the last of the Corvettes with chrome bumpers. 1975 was the last year a Corvette convertible was produced, and in 1980, the Corvette got a new aerodynamic design overhaul that drastically reduced drag.

The glorious Corvette history moves on to the C4 or fourth generation Corvette, which saw the first Corvette to have a glass hatchback. The C4 was a total redesign and the emphasis on this model was handling. This model was acclaimed as being the best handling car ever. The mid-eighties saw GM collaborating with Lotus for developing the pricey ZR-1. The Grand Sport version of the Corvette released in 1996 marks the end of the C4 series. High performance and superb looks were highlighted in this model. The C5 rolled out in 1997 and was in action till 2004.

The look of the car had improved considerably in this version. The performance also proved that this model was much superior to the previous versions. The C5-R and the Z06 are other remarkable cars in this series. The C6 is not very much different from its predecessor. The main thrust of the upgrade seems to be aimed at perfecting the older model and removing some snags and hitches. The new Z06 arrived in 2006. Corvette history is full of the various awards and prizes won by Corvette both for its looks as well as performance.

Auto VIN Decoder - What Do Those Letters & Numbers Mean?

Auto VIN Decoder - What Do Those Letters & Numbers Mean?
    By David Bloom

An Auto VIN Decoder breaks down the unique alphanumeric sequence known as a Vehicle Identification Number, which is a car's fingerprint. Each and every automobile on the road has its own 17-character VIN, and it is this identification number that is used to generate a Vehicle History Report, also known as a VIN check.

The VIN check taps into millions of DMV records and reveals all of the available history for a particular vehicle, including any hidden problems, odometer readings, ownership transfers and more. It is an absolute must for used car buyers, as it tells you everything you need to know about the vehicle.

The Auto VIN Decoder can help you understand what these letters and numbers mean, which is the first step towards ensuring that a vehicle you are considering is right for you.

Let's break down the Vehicle Identification Number, starting with the first character. (Please note the letter "I" as in indigo, the letter "O" as in orange, and the letter "Q" as in queen are NOT found in any VIN Numbers.)

(We will use the following VIN as an example: 2FTRX18W1XCA01212)

The first character represents the country of manufacture, and can be a letter or a number, each signifying a different country. The most common ones are as follows:

    (1 = USA, 2 = Canada, 3 = Mexico, J = Japan, K = Korea, W = Germany, Y = Finland, Sweden)

So using the Auto VIN Decoder in the above example, this particular car was made in Canada.

The second/third characters represent the manufacturer, also known as the make. The most common are:

    (A = Alfa Romeo, B = Dodge, C = Chrysler, D = Daihatsu, E = Eagle, F= Ford/Eagle, G = All General Motors vehicles (Buick, Cadillac, Chevrolet, Oldsmobile, Pontiac, Saturn)
    H = Honda/Acura, J= Jeep, L = Lincoln, M = Mitsubishi, N = Nissan/Infiniti, P = Plymouth, S = Subaru, T = Toyota/Lexus, V = Volkswagen)

So using the Auto VIN Decoder in the above example, this car is a Ford or an Eagle..since Eagle is no longer made, it is most likely a Ford.

Other popular makes use a 3-character initial sequence:

    (TRU/WAU = Audi, 4US/WBA/WBS = BMW, 2HM/KMH = Hyundai, SAJ = Jaguar, SAL = Land Rover, 1YV/JM1 = Mazda, WDB = Mercedes-Benz, VF3 = Peugeot, WP0 = Porsche, YK1/YS3 = Saab, YV1=Volvo)

The fourth character is the type of restraint system.

In the above example, "R" represents hydraulic breaks using the VIN Decoder.

The fifth, sixth & seventh characters are the vehicle line, series and body style. This will obviously be different across makes and models.

    In the above example, characters 5, 6 & 7 are X18: X18 is a Ford F150 Pickup 4WD Super Cab

The eighth character is the engine type.

With the Auto VIN Decoder, W represents a 4.6 liter V-8 engine.

The tenth character represents the year of the car. Pay close attention to this one:

    B = 1981 F = 1985 K = 1989 P = 1993 V = 1997 1 = 2001
    C = 1982 G = 1986 L = 1990 R = 1994 W = 1998 2 = 2002
    D = 1983 H = 1987 M = 1991 S = 1995 X = 1999 3 = 2003
    E = 1984 J = 1988 N = 1992 T = 1996 Y = 2000 4 = 2004

For the most recent used model year, 5 = 2005

In the above example, the "X" indicates that this car was made in 1999.

The eleventh character indicates the assembly plant.

In the above example, the C indicates Ontario, Canada

Characters 12-17 represent the vehicle's unique fingerprint. It is these six digits which make every single vehicle in the world different.

So using the Auto VIN Decoder one last time, the Vehicle Identification Number: 2FTRX18W1XCA01212 represents a 1999 Ford F150 Pickup 4WD Super Cab manufactured in Ontario, Canada with hydraulic brakes and a 4.6-liter V-8 engine.

So there you have it, the Auto VIN Decoder. If you are in the market for a used vehicle, use this decoder to make sure that it is indeed the exact model that the seller is claiming it is. Once you have verified the Vehicle Identification Number is accurate, you can proceed with your VIN check and learn everything you need to know about that particular car.

David Bloom has been researching the automotive industry for years, and is a contributing editor for several web sites, including Car Detective Vehicle History Reports and Auto Advice Car Buying Tips. Both sites include information for new and used car buyers.

Lower Your Car Insurance Rate

    Turn 21 Today!

If You Refuse To Pay High Insurance Rates…Here Are 7 “Bargaining Chips” you Can Use to Negotiate a Better Car Insurance Rate.

    Lower Your Car Insurance Rate

Having a good driving record is one of the best ways to keep your car insurance rates down. Here are a few other ways to help lower your costs.

    1.Shop Around
Make companies compete for your business. Prices will vary from company to company. So, be sure to ask at least 3-4 different companies for a quote. Make them earn your business.

Talk to your friends, neighbors and coworkers about their insurance policies. If they’re happy with their insurance company there is a good chance you will be too.

There are dozens of companies on line willing to give you a free car insurance quote (like FreeCarInsuranceQuotes.org and CarInsurance.com). This may be a good starting place for you. Keep your eyes and ears open for radio and TV advertisements.

Again, these agencies are willing to compete for your business; so, don’t settle.

    2.Ask For Higher Deductibles
Deductibles are what you pay before your Auto insurance policy kicks in. By raising your deductible, you can lower your auto insurance rates significantly. For instance, raising your deductible from $250 to $500 can reduce your collision and comprehensive coverage 10-30 percent. Raising your deductible to a $1000 could save you as much as 40% or better.

Just be sure you have the cash on hand to cover yourself in the event of a claim.

    3.Have Safety/ Anti-theft Devices Installed
You may be eligible for further car insurance discounts if your vehicle is equipped with one or more options: anti-lock brakes, automatic seat belts, air bags, or traction control.

Installing a vehicle recovery systems such as LoJack or Teletracer can save you up to 7-10% per year.

Other Anti-theft devices like The Club are relatively inexpensive and can also help to reduce your insurance premiums.

    4.Consolidate Insurance Policies
Insuring two or more vehicles through the same auto insurance company can help to reduce your insurance rates by as much as 10%-15%. Covering your home through the same company that insures your vehicles can help lower your rates by an additional 10%-15%.

    5.Teenagers and College Bound Drivers
Teenagers and college bound drivers may consider driving the family car instead of driving his or her own vehicle. Students attending school and living away from home can reduce their premiums by as much as 30-50 percent this way.

6.Take Advantage of Low Mileage Discounts
Many car insurance companies offer reduced insurance rates to people who car pool to work or find other ways to keep their mileage low.

    7.Safety Courses
Along with having a clean driving record, taking additional driver’s safety courses could save you some 7-10% on your car insurance. If you are given a traffic citation, ask about the types of courses they offer. Some states willing to keep your insurance record clean if you agree to take complete these courses.

    Conclusion
Lowering your auto insurance, in many instances, is about knowing what questions to ask and what you are entitled to. Since many companies aren’t going to do your homework for you, here is the short list of discounts you should inquire about:

    [ ] Low Mileage
    [ ] $500 Deductible
    [ ] $1000 Deductible
[ ] More than One Car
[ ] No Accidents in 3 Years, 5 Years, and so on
[ ] No Moving Violations in 3 Years
    [ ] Driver Training Course
    [ ] Defensive Driving Courses
    [ ] Anti-Theft Devices
[ ] Safety Features (like Air Bags, Anti-lock Brakes, Daytime Running Lights, etc.)
[ ] Student Drivers with Good Grades
    [ ] Consolidating Policies
[ ] College Students Away From Home
    [ ] Long-Time Customers
[ ] Discounts for Non Smokers and Retirees

Deductions will vary from state to state and from insurance company to insurance company. So be sure to ask.

Also the key to lowering your auto insurance rate is not necessarily how many discounts you are eligible for. It’s the bottom line that matters.
